ENCAPSULATED ANTENNA FOR AIRBORNE COMMUNICATIONS. USD
encapsulated a UHF SATCOM antenna for aircraft use. The ultimate
customer was the US Army for use on a helicopter.
LOW PROFILE AIRCRAFT ANTENNAS AND
RADOMES. USD worked on the
miniaturization and consolidation of half a dozen different aircraft
antennas, and housing the ensemble of antennas in a low profile
radome. The goal was to reduce aerodynamic drag and increase fuel
efficiency.
UAV SATCOM, COMMUNICATIONS AND RADAR
RADOMES.
USD designed
various composite
radomes which went into production. The designs
considered placement on the aircraft, wall details and materials.
RF MATERIAL TRANSPARENCY FOR TELECOM APPLICATIONS.
USD evaluated RF transparency of various dielcetric composite
schedules for telecom applications.
MMW MISSILE GUIDANCE SYSTEM.
USD performed missile guidance analysis
for a single plane monopulse spinning missile seeker, taking the
antenna and
radome effect into account.
EXTREMELY BROADBAND
RADOMES. USD has invented
radome wall concepts exhibiting
more than five decades of bandwidth. There are widespread military
and commercial applications. Research is ongoing and the Company
plans to file patent applications.
UAV COMMUNICATIONS COMMAND LINK.
USD has performed a digital
communications system analysis. Signal budgets performed considered
different digital modulations, weather, power levels and the
resulting BER.
MULTIPLE BAND-PASS
RADOMES.
USD researched
techniques to obtain multiple-frequency bandpass performance. This
would allow aircraft to accommodate multiple sensors simultaneously
with a common radome.
STRIKE WEAPON
RADOME R&D.USD performed
electrical design and performance analysis of a
radome fabricated
from a new low weight high strength ceramic capable of hypersonic
performance.
RF TRANSPARENT BUILDINGS TO HOUSE SATCOM OR TELECOM ANTENNAS.
USD has evaluated loss and other effects of a
plastic building on enclosed telecom and SATCOM antennas. Wall and
frame construction details and were traded off for best performance.
MARITIME SATCOM
RADOME DESIGN.
USD analyzed high performance low cost concepts. Materials
and wall designs were traded off, as well as production effects
resulting from poor manufacturing tolerances.
REDTEAM PROPOSAL REVIEW FOR A MAJOR DEFENSE COMPANY.
USD was a team member along with top corporate management reviewing
and recommending changes to a major defense proposal to the USAF.
